I think this is an easier and faster way. You can solve it as a simultaneous equation. You bring the -10 and -2 to the other side by addition then you can multiply one of the equations by -1 so you can cross out the x as they are the same values but opposite signs then solve for y after solving for y substitute y with your answer and solve for x. Hope this helps
