Explanation:

The root of an equation is basically the solution of the equation. If I'm reading the problem correctly, the equation is (6+x)*2 - x*2 = 168.

We distribute the (6+x)*2 part and get 12+2x - 2x = 168. Uh oh.. the 2x terms cancel each other out and we are left with 12=168. Either I'm reading the equation wrong or the equation has no solutions.
