y is thsupplement of 4x - 14

2x + 18 = 4x - 14 Add 14 to both sides

2x + 18 + 14 = 4x - 14 + 14 Combine like terms

2x + 32 = 4x Subtract 2x from both sides

2x-2x+32=42-2x Combine

32 = 2x Divide by 2

32/2 = x

16 = x
