Let's suppose hats is the variable h

And Let's suppose scarves is the variable s

3h+2s=12

5h+4s=21

so, 3h+2s=12 which is also 2s=12-3h

so, in the equare 5h+4s=21 we can replace the 4s with 2(12-3h) Now the equation is this:

5h+24-6h=21

*Simplified*

Now 5h-6h= -1h

-1h+24=21

+1h +1h

on each side.

now the equation is(remember 1h=h): 24=h+21

I think you can do it now.

Now with the cost of the hats, we can use the first equation: 3h+2s=12

h=3

3*3=9

-9 -9

2s=3

s=1.5
