Using completing the square, let x^2+4x-2 = 0 and solve the steps to get the answerx^2 + 4x - 2 =0

add 2 to both sides to get x^2 + 4x = 2

then add 4 to both sides to get x^2 + 4x + 4 = 6

Get the left hand side to the square formate: (x+2)^2 = 6

then simplify x+2 = sqrt(6) or x+2 = -sqrt(6)

so x = sqrt(6) - 2 or x = -sqrt(6) -2
