Explanation:


(a^(12) * b^(7) )/(a^(9) * b^(5) )

Divide the equation (split the equation into parts), to show like terms;


(a^(12) )/(a^(9) ) *
(b^(7) )/(b^(5) )

Since dividing two numbers with exponents,( that have the same base), is equivalent to subtracting the exponents and retaining the base, hence:


a^(3) *
b^(2)
