If density = mass divided by volume, than the more volume a material has the less dense it is. For example, if there are five people in a room that is 5ft. by 5ft. the people will be tightly packed together and more dense. If those same five people were in a room that is 20ft. by 20ft. they would have more space and it would not be as dense in the room.

The higher the density, the more closely packed the particles called atoms and molecules. The lower the density the more spaced muy the particles are
