Answer:

Rate of jet in still air = 750 mph

Rate of wind = 180 mph

Explanation:

Let the rate of jet in still air =
u mph

Let the rate of air =
v mph

So, Rate of jet against the wind =
(u-v) mph

Rate of jet with the wind =
(u+v) mph

Formula for Speed/Rate is given as:

Speed = Distance * Time

Distance traveled in 3 hours against the wind = 1710 miles

Distance traveled in 4 hours against the wind = 3720 miles

u-v=(1710)/(3)\\\Rightarrow u-v=570..... (1)

u+v=(3720)/(4)\\\Rightarrow u+v=930......(2)

Adding (1) and (2):

2u=1500\\\Rightarrow u=750\ mph

By equation (1):

750 - v =570\\\Rightarrow v =180\ mph

Rate of jet in still air = 750 mph

Rate of wind = 180 mph
