y = price of 1 basketball.

As per given,

`3x+2y=44\ \ \ (i)`

`x+3y=31\ \ \ \ (ii)`

Multiply 3 to (ii) , we get

`3x+9y=93\ \ \ \ (iii)`

Eliminate (i) from (iii)

`7y=49\\\\\Rightarrow\ y=7`

Put this in (ii), we get

`x+3(7)=31\\\\\Rightarrow\ x+21=31\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=31-21=10\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=10`
