Firt, lets have both equations equal to 7.

y = -x + 7

y =
x^(2) -4x - 5\\

Multiply by -1 to the top equation so that we can cancel out the y's when adding the two equations together.

-y = x - 7

Now, we add the two equations together.

0 =
x^(2) -3x-12

To find x, we have to use the factor.

It seems to be that you can't factor, so this system of equations can't be solved using the elimination process. (Can be solved using substitution)
