so basically people vote for who they think should be president. then whatever the majority of the state's votes are will determine the party of the state that is declared that election... usually bc the popular vote usually determines a state's electoral vote. Each state has a number of electoral votes based on their population. In order for a candidate to win, they must receive 270 electoral votes
