I dislike these kinds of questions. I could argue either of 2 answers - b and d.

b says that her error was that she wrote two expressions that are not equivalent and that is true. She did not write equivalent expressions.

d says she didn't use a common factor to both terms and that is true.

The actual answer is that she made a silly error which we all often do.

8 * 9 is 72

so the distributive property should be

9(5 + 8)

So, what's the answer? I would pick D, but hold your nose when you enter it.
