x = 3 or x = 4
Given
x² + 12 = 7x ( subtract 7x from both sides )
x² - 7x + 12 = 0 ← in standard form
(x - 3)(x - 4) = 0 ← in factored form
Equate each factor to zero ( zero product property ) and solve for x
x - 3 = 0 ⇒ x = 3
x - 4 = 0 ⇒ x = 4
