Explanation:

The sides of similar triangles are proportion, that means the ratio between the corresponding sides are equal

In the given figure

∵ The two triangles are similar

2 m and x are corresponding sides

4 m and 9 m are corresponding sides


(2)/(x) =
(4)/(9)

→ By using cross multiplication

x × 4 = 2 × 9

∴ 4x = 18

→ Divide both sides by 4 to find x


(4x)/(4) =
(18)/(4)

x = 4.5 m
