Uber charges a $5 flat rate and additional $1.75 per mile. Santos has no more than $28 to spend on an Uber ride. How many miles can Santos travel without exceeding his limit? 13 miles 14 miles 54 miles 141 miles 142 miles

and how do you solve it?

Answer: 13 miles

1.75x+5=28

First, subtract 5 from both sides.

1.75x+5-5=28-5

1.75x=23

Then, divide by 1.75 on both sides.

1.75x÷1.75=23÷1.75

x= 13.14 (rounded to the nearest hundredths)

I hope this is good enough:

Answer:

13 miles

Explanation:

$28 - $5 = 23

23/1.75 = 13.1428

meaning Santos will only be able to travel at least 13 miles with the money that he has.
