A worker is taking cases of screws on a lift. Each case weighs 47 pounds and the worker weighs 182 pounds. The lift has a weight limit of 2700 write inequality that describes the number of cases he can safely take on each trip. What is the maximum amount of cases he can take?

Answer:

The inequality is;

47x + 182 ≤ 2,700

where x is number of cases

The maximum amount of cases is 53

Explanation:

Here, we want to know the number of cases that will be taken

Let the number of cases be x

Total case weight will be x * 47 = 47x pounds

So adding this to the weight of the worker, we have;

47x + 182 ≤ 2,700

The maximum will be;

47x ≤ 2700-182

47x ≤ 2518

x ≤ 2518/57

x ≤ 53.57

Rounding this to the lower limit will be 53 ( if rounded to 54, it will be higher than maximum weight of lift)
