P;EASE HELP ITS DUE AT 11: 59 On a​ map, 2 inches equals 180 miles. The distance that a family travels is 2.5 inches on the map. Represent the scale as two different ratios. What is the actual distance the family​ travels?

We will need to first find the base unit that will allow us to easily find the actual distance. For example, if 2:10, the base unit is 1:5 which allows use to easily find any other value.

There are two easy ways to solve this, the first way is always definitive regardless of the numbers

1. we do 2/180 as a fraction, then cross multiply 180 by 2.5 and divide it by 2. We are given 225 miles

2. We simplify the ratio of 2:180 to 1:90. With this, we can manipulate the value of 1 and along with it the value of 90. So 1*2.5 = 2.5, and we also need to apply this to 90. So we would do 90*2.5 giving us 225 miles.
