The lowercase sides are opposite to the corresponding uppercase letter. So in the first example, a is 15 because its directly opposite to A. So under the “a^2” section, put 15^2. Do the same for the other sides.

Under a^2 + b^2 __ c^2, use Pythagorean theorem to solve for each equation and see if a^2 + b^2 is greater, less than or equal to c^2 (hypotenuse or LARGEST side of the triangle)

Triangle 1

a^2 is 15^2 or 225
b^2 is 17^2 or 289
a^2 + b^2 is 225 + 289 or 514
c^2 is 20^2 or 400
a^2 + b^2 is greater than c^2 or >
acute traingle


Triangle 2

a^2 is 16^2 or 256
b^2 is 7^2 or 49
a^2 + b^2 is 256 +49 or 305
c^2 is 18^2 or 324
a^2 + b^2 is less than c^2 or <
not sure what type of triangle maybe obtuse or right


Triangle 3

a^2 is 12^2 or 144
b^2 is 9^2 or 81
a^2 + b^2 is 144 +81 or 225
c^2 is 15^2 or 225
a^2 + b^2 is = c^2 or equal too
it is a right triangle
