For example, someone buys you an ice cream because you did well on a test. You may now think you will get more ice cream if you continue doing well. Negative reinforcement means something bad will be taken away if you do well. For example, you will not have to do the dishes if you do well on this assignment. Positive punishment on the other hands is something like being grounded. You will be given something negative if you do something wrong. Negative punishment is something being taken away such as not being able to go to a party. This discourages the behavior.
