The factors we analyze today such as polotics, culture, and economy affected the development of Southern colonies in many ways. Politcally, the Southern colonies had greater religious toleration compared to the Northern colonies. Politics was controlled largely by the wealthy plantation owners. Each Southern colony had a governor appointed by the English sponsor of that colony. This was a problem that political views had to deal with. Culturally, most people we Catholic and Protestant and this affected the way they live. Now, we have many different cultures living together. Lastly, the economical effects had a change too. The warm humid climate in the south allowed Southern colonists to grow sugar cane, rice, tobacco, and indigo as cash crops. They also could farm many foods. Colonists used the land to grow crops like tobacco, rice and indigo. This made money and made the economy strong.
