Ionization, in chemistry and physics, any process by which electrically neutral atoms or molecules are converted to electrically charged atoms or molecules (ions).
radical, also called Free Radical, in chemistry, molecule that contains at least one unpaired electron.
For neutral atoms, the number of valence electrons is equal to the atom's main group number.
