Explanation:

To obtain the lower end of the water used;

137.00-75.24=$61.76

So, $61.76/ $3.86=16

This represents 16,000 liters above the 10,000 already used since $3.86 is charged per 1000 litres for water usage in excess of 10,000 litres.

Therefore the lower end is 16,000 + 10,000 = 26,000 liters

For the higher end;

245.08-75.24=$169.84

$169.84

/$3.86=44, this means 44,000 extra liters more than the 10,000 litres already used.

Hence the higher end is 44,000 + 10,000 = 54,000 liters
