Answer: a. $10.27

b. $168.27

Explanation:

From the question, we are informed that Brandan found two pairs of shorts for $35 each and four shirts with an average price of $22 per shirt. The cost of the shirts and shorts will be:

= (2 × $35) + (4 × $22)

= $70 + $88

= $158

A. If he buys all of the items how much sales tax will he have to pay?

Sales tax = 6.5% × $158

Sales tax = 0.065 × $158

Sales tax = $10.27

B. What is the total cost of his purchase including sales tax?

This will be:

= $158 + $10.27

= $168.27
