Step 1. Combine your like terms( Like terms are the numbers with the same variable)

3a + 2b + 5a

3a + 5a= 8a

Step 2. Bring down the other term which is 2b( Do not add 8a + 2b because they are not like terms)

8a + 2b

and your done :)

Remeber: like terms have the same variable.

Example: 2a + 4a
