Hey there!

5x + x - 3 = 3

5x + 1x - 3 = 3

6x - 3 = 3

ADD 3 to BOTH SIDES

6x - 3 + 3 = 3 + 3

CANCEL out: -3 + 3 because it gives you 0

KEEP: 3 + 3 because it helps solve for the x-value

NEW EQUATION: 6x = 3 + 3

SIMPLIFY IT!

6x = 6

DIVIDE 6 to BOTH SIDES

6x/6 = 6/6

CANCEL out: 6/6 (on the LEFT) because it gives you 1

KEEP: 6/6 (on the RIGHT) because it help solve for the x-value (it actually gives it you)

NEW EQUATION: x = 6/6

SIMPLIFY IT!

x = 1

Good luck on your assignment and enjoy your day!
