Elias’s teacher has given him a rectangle that is 15 feet by 20 feet. She has asked him to create a new rectangle using a scale factor of 8/3. Elias says that will be a reduction because the scale factor is a fraction. Is he correct?

Answer:

Yes

Explanation:

Because for every 8 feet of the original rectangles, it will be 3 feet on the scale model, therefore it is reducing.
