Nate just started working at a cothing store. He receives a 40% discount on any item once a month. This month Nate decided to buy a jacket that has a retail price of $74.99. How much did Nate pay for his jacket?

Answer: $ 44.99

Explanation:

Given : Retail price of Jacket = $74.99

Discount percent = 40% = 0.40 [To remove % we divide it by 100]

Discount amount = (Discount percent) x (retail price)

=$ 0.40 x 74.99 = $29.996 ≈ $30.0

Amount need to pay = (Retail price) - (Discount amount)

= $(74.99 - 30.0) = $ 44.99

Hence, Nate paid $ 44.99 for his jacket.
