The United States of America's foreign policy adapted to focus on expansionism and U.S. trade; foreign entanglement during the long 19th century thus suffered. U.S. expansionism not only increased the influence the country possessed but economic development and wealth. Issuing the Monroe Doctrine of 1823 was an attempt to prevent an intrusion of the U.S.' 'sphere of influence'; this action consequently bore some benefit. The Monroe Doctrine successfully decreed the ideals of isolationism. The decree backfired toward the Latin American country Spain preventing them from any aid from the U.S. in war.

Ideas that U.S. leaders drew from nationalism induced the pursuit of world affairs that follow their best interests and or their country's ideologies. Immigrants that enter the U.S. must conform to the country's nationalism by learning the fundamentals of the U.S government to achieve citizenship. Regarding future economic issues, I believe that the U.S. will have considerable influence on the account of their economic power. I hold the belief that the U.S.' future world affairs will follow the nation's ideologies and the best interests of all parties involved.

The central powers consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungry, and the Ottoman Empire. They were also known as the Triple Alliance.
