Jose is looking for a new set of school supplies to buy. Jose remembers that the

notebook he bought was $10, but he was in a hurry and did not check the cost
for the 4 highlighters he bought. The total for the highlighters and notebook was
$15.20, how much were each of the highlighters? Write the equation that would
be used to solve this problem, use h for highlighters. There are not sales taxes in
this problem.*

Answer:

Each highlighter was $1.30

Explanation:

So the equation should look like

15.20 - 10.00/4 = h

15.20 = total amount

10.00 = cost of the notebook

4 = amount of highlighters

h = cost of highlighters

So now all we have to do is solve the equation.

15.20 - 10 = 5.20/4 = 1.30

Answer:

Each highlighter is $1.30

Explanation:

First the formula is 10+4h=15.20. H represents the unknown cost of each highlighters. Solve for h by subtracting 10 on both sides. 4h=15.20 Then divide 4 on both sides to get h by itself. h=1.30 Therefore one highlighter would cost $1.30
