Answer:

Yards to Hours

Yards:Hour

0.75:1

Reasoning

For every 8 hours Jackson mows 6 yards, which is a rate of 0.75 yards per hour which is the proportion 0.75:1

Explanation:

  1. Break it down
  2. Write a formula

To make it easier for me to see, I'm going to rewrite it.

Jesse can mow 3 yards in 8 hours. Jackson can mow twice as many per hour.

Breaking it down:

Jesse can mow 3 yards in 8 hours. Jackson mows twice as many yards per hour.

This means that in the same time it takes Jesse to mow 3 yards Jackson mows 6 yards. Defined by the equation of 2 x (Jesses Yards/Hours)

Jesse is at a rate of 3:8 Which 3/8 is 0.375

Jackson is at a rate of 6:8 which 6/8 is 0.75

The answer wishes to know per hour and so we can deduce Jesse mows 0.375ths of a yard while Jackson mows 0.75th of a yard per hour. Because we're not comparing the two the answer will just be Jacksons rate.

Hope this helps,
