You have to multiply the entire equation by 4 to get rid of fractions, and you end up with 2x-4x=x+24

Then you simplify to get -2x=x+24

Then you subtract x on btoh sides to get

-2x - x = x - x +24

Then you simplify to get

-3x = 24

Then you divide both sides by -3

You get

-3/-3x = 24/ -3

You simplify to get

x = -8
