In a car lift, compressed air exerts a force on a piston with a radius of 26.00 cm. This pressure is transmitted to a second piston with a radius of 43.0 cm. a) How large a force must the compressed air exert to lift a 2.33x103 N car? b) What pressure produces this force? Neglect the weight of the pistons.

Pascal's Law

\tt \boxed{\bold{(F_1)/(A_1)=(F_2)/(A_2)}}

a. F₁/πr₁²=F₂/πr₂²

F₁/26²=2.33 x 10³/43²

F₁=8.51 x 10² N

b. P = F/A

P = 8.51 x 10²/π26²

P = 0.4 Pa
