John gets a new job and receives a $500 signing bonus. After that, he makes $200 a day. What is the slope and what is the y-intercept

Explanation:

The total that John makes expressed in an equation will be;

y = mx + c

y is the total John makes

m is the slope which also represents the change in y as a result of a change in x. In this case that is the $200 he earns per day.

x is the number of days he works

c which is the y intercept which is the amount he would make regardless of how many days he worked (x is 0). That would be $500

The equation would therefore be;

y = 200x + 500

Slope = 200

y-intercept = 500
