Explanation:

distribute the negative


-(7)/(8) +(1)/(6) this might help to rearrange the fraction
(1)/(6) -(7)/(8)

you want common factors for your denominator so you could 8 * 6 =48 but they have an easier common factor and that is 24

3*8=24 and 4*6=24


-(7)/(8) *(3)/(3)=-(21)/(24)


(1)/(6) *(4)/(4)=(4)/(24)

now we can add these two fractions


(4)/(24) -(21)/(24) =-(17)/(24)
