The angle vertically opposite 4x - 7 is congruent to it and forms a same- side interior angle with 6x + 7.

Same- side interior angles sum to 180° , then

6x + 7 + 4x - 7 = 180 , that is

10x = 180 ( divide both sides by 10 )

x = 18

Then

6x + 7 = 6(18) + 7 = 108 + 7 = 115

6x + 7 and 3y - 20 are vertically opposite angles and are congruent , so

3y - 20 = 115 ( add 20 to both sides )

3y = 135 ( divide both sides by 3 )

y = 45
