rise/run = slope

slope = 2/4 = 1/2

y = 1/2x +b

now, choose a point on the line and substitute y for the y coordinate and x for the x coordinate -----------> i will use (1, -1)

-1 = 1/2(1) + b

-1 = 1/2 +b

subtract 1/2 from both sides

-3/2 = b

y = 1/2x - 3/2

Answer:

y = 1/2x - 3/2

General Formulas and Concepts:

Order of Operations: BPEMDAS

Slope Formula:
m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

Slope-Intercept Form: y = mx + b

m - slope

b - y-intercept

Explanation:

Step 1: Define coordinates:

(-3, -3)

(1, -1)

Step 2: Find slope m

m=(-1-(-3))/(1-(-3))

m=(-1+3)/(1+3)

m=(2)/(4)

m=(1)/(2)

Step 3: Find y-intercept b

  1. Define: y = 1/2x + b
  2. Substitute: -1 = 1/2(1) + b
  3. Multiply: -1 = 1/2 + b
  4. Subtract 1/2 on both sides: -3/2 = b

Step 4: Write linear equation:

Plug in the newly found b into the equation.

y = 1/2x - 3/2
