By subject, if you mean on the other side of the equals sign by itself, the steps might look something like this...

{rewriting it}
i = mv - mu

{factor out the m from the v and u}
i = m(v - u)

{divide both sides by m}
i / m = [m(v - u)] / m

{divide both sides by i}
(i / m) / i = (v - u) / i

{simplify this step}
1 / m = (v - u) / i

{invert for the answer}
m = i / (v - u)

Answer:

m =
(l)/(v-u)

Explanation:

l = mv-mu (factor out m from mv and mu)

l = m(v-u) - (divide both sides by (v-u))

l/v-u =m
