The scale drawing shows the layout of the Lin family's basement. Mr. Lin wants to have new carpet installed. The scale of the drawing is 1 inch = 5 feet.

If the carpet costs $1.75 per square foot, how much will it cost for the new carpet? Round to the nearest cent if necessary.
The dimensions are
L = 11 in
W = 6 in

So the scale is 1 inch = 5 feet

that would mean that the length of the carpet is going to be 11 x 5 = 55 feet.
Then the width will be 6 x 5 = 30
So in order to find the total amount of square feet, we multiply length times width.

55 x 30 = 1,650 Sq. ft.

If the carpet costs $1.75 per square foot, we multiply that number by the total square footage (1,650)
This gives us $2,887.50
