Why does Montressor keep telling Fortunato that they should turn back, especially because of Fortunato’s cough?

He keeps on telling Fortunato to turn back because he knows that this will make Fortunato want to follow him even more. He used Luchesi as bait at the starting of the story to lure Fortunato, but now he is using his bad health to keep his curiosity in the Amontillado.
