Therefore the slope of the given line k = (10-4)/(9-8) = 6

In the slope intercept equation, y = mx + b, m is the slope and b is the y intercept

Substituting for m we get the line equation as

y = 6x + b

Substitute any one of the points in this equation. Let's use point(8,4) ie x= 8, y =4

we get

4 = 6 x 8 + b

which gives b = 4-48 = -44
