Axel used the vertical line test on this graph, and decided it is a function because the vertical line only passes through one point, (3, 0).

On a coordinate plane, a circle is centered around (0, 0). A vertical line touches the edge of the circle at (3, 0).

Is Axel’s statement correct?

Answer: Axel's statement would be incorrect. (If this is for Edgenulty, the answer is C)

Step-by-step explanation: No, because the relation does not pass the vertical line test for every possible input.

Axel’s statement is incorrect.

Step-by-step explanation:

By viewing this question, I can already tell Axel is incorrect. Because the shape is a circle, it goes around and then meets back at one spot. Therefore, when using the vertical line test, many different points have the same y-value. Because there are multiple outputs for one value, this circle is not a function. Axel’s graph does not pass the vertical line test for every set of points.
