Answer:

  • y = -4x + 2

Explanation:

Given

  • Points (2, -6) and (-1, 6)

To find

  • Equation of the line passing through the given points

Solution

Using slope-intercept form:

  • y = mx + b

1. Finding the slope using slope formula:

  • m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) = (6 - (-6))/(-1 - 2) = 12/(-3) = -4

2. Finding y-intercept using the first point, x = 2, y = -6:

  • -6 = (-4)*(2) + b
  • -6 = -8 + b
  • b = -6 + 8
  • b = 2

So the equation is:

  • y = -4x + 2
