1) 2a + 3(a + 1) = 8

⇒ 2a + 3a + 3 = 8

⇒ 5a + 3 = 8

⇒ 5a = 5

⇒ a = 5/5 = 1

2) 3a - 2a - 4 = 0

⇒ a - 4 = 0

⇒ a = 4

3) 6(2a - a + 1)= 24

⇒ 2a - a + 1 = 4

⇒ a + 1 = 4

⇒ a = 3

4) 4 + 3(a + 2) = 16
