Given;

(1-tan^2a) + (1+tan^2a)= 2

LHS:

=(1-tan^2a)+(1+tan^2a)

Remove brackets.

=1-tan^2a + 1 +tan^2a

Cancel "tan^2a" and "-tan^2a"

= 1+1

= 2

RHS proved....
