Jim Crow Laws is the term we are using for all the laws that were brought in United States between 1876 and 1965 that de jure enabled the racist policy in southern states. They created large division between different races. Black people usually didn't have right to equal education, work, health care... This was one of the main disputes especially in 1950s when the black community fought for the rights to have a right to public education.

Although slavery was formally abolished in 1862 the segregation continued for the whole century. In southern states there was an obvious animosity towards black community that was mostly seen through number of these laws that were enacted. During 1960s most of this laws were abolished.
