A rectangle is 8 feet wide by 10 feet long. If the width is increased by 25% and the length is increased by 20%, what is the area of the resulting rectangle, in square feet?​

120 feet

Explanation:

first, we need to find what 25% of 8 is. to do this we change 25% to a decimal and multiply it by 8. this gives us 2. so we know that 25% of 8 is 2. seeing that the width is increased by 25%, we know that we have to add 2 to 8, which gives us 10, the new width. we do the same thing to the length. 20% of 10 is 2, so we add that to 10 to get the length, 12. now to find the area of a rectangle, we multiply length times width. 10 times 12 is 120, so the area is 120 feet^2.
