What does z equal in the equation 6 = 1/4z - 1 ?

Explanation:
6=1147-1
1) take the - 1 over to the other side of the
equation, so it becomes +1
2) 6+1=7, so your new equation is 7=1/4z
3) to get "z" on its own, you'll have to time the
7 by 4 which is 28
4) your equation is now 28= and that is your
answer.
You can check by inserting 28 instead of z into
the equation and it gives you 6. E.G. 1.4 X 28 -1
=6
