As Napoleon expanded the French Empire, he took over many countries and led them to find an overpowering sense of nationalism. Napoleon extended that to all of Western Europe right unto Poland. He made it possible for them to get jobs, surnames and education. Without Napoleon, you would have no Marx, no Freud, and no Einstein. All their ancestors were direct beneficiaries of his reforms.
