Why are similes a good thing to have in stories? I need this to be a 4 sentence paragraph. DO it correctly.

Similes are used all in the time in stories. The reason is that they are great for creating an image in the reader’s head. Similes compare one thing to another, and a great sentence is, “they fought like cats and dogs”. Everyone knows cats and dogs fight terribly and angrily, so that sets the image of two or more people fighting harshly. Moreover, the reason similes are a positive thing to have in stories is because they can easily get an image in the reader’s head.

Writers use similes in the beginning of their stories to introduce concrete images. Similes spark the reader’s imagination and helps them understand the given information. Readers are more aware of the direct comparison unlike when we use a metaphor, which is more poetic and subtle. A simile is really just a comparison and you can often make them more subtle for a better read.
