Why did the Europeans so eager to come and stay to the Philippine islands? What made the Philippines so attractive to the Western people that they even colonized our country for centuries? Discuss you answer.

The United States indirectly colonized Philippines through Spain because of its nearness to the Pacific Ocean as this was pivotal to trade and would make them imperial powerhouses.

Another reason was for the natural resources in the Philippines which was exploited by them. The Philippines had fertile land and water bodies which were attractive to the colonists.
